The role

The New Business Manager will support three hard working New Business Directors. You will be agnostic across our main capabilities (Advertising, Customer Engagement & PR), getting stuck into a variety of new business, marketing and events responsibilities.

New Business as a craft is very well respected within Ogilvy and as such you’ll be in contact with senior level and c-suite employees and should feel confident around these stakeholders. Everyone in the department is expected to be a real Ambassador for Ogilvy

Team Structure

Under the Head of New Business & Marketing there are three New Business Directors and one New Business Executive. It is a relatively large department covering multiple capabilities and specialisms within and as such there’s a clear line of progression. The department is hard working, highly professional, but fun too.

Main responsibilities

  • Work with the New Business Directors to execute the new business and marketing plans across the 3 main capabilities (Advertising, Customer Engagement, PR)
  • Develop and implement a contact strategy which includes a variety of push and pull marketing tactics, events and thought leadership.
  • Draft RFIs and RFPs under the supervision of the New Business Directors
  • Drive the reporting systems – within Ogilvy UK, Ogilvy Globally and WPP
  • Drive updates of credentials and case studies across the three main capabilities, with the support of the NBE.
  • Oversee the New Business Executive in their endeavours to update external profiles (IPA, Creativebrief, Oystercatchers).
  • Respond to network requests and requests from within the agency.
  • Work with our teams and NBDs on all aspects of the pitch process – wherever the heat is!
  • Build relationships across the business, ensuring the NB team is deemed professional, a beacon for new business best practice and the beating heart of the agency

The Candidate

The role is extremely varied – no two days are ever the same – but each day is always busy!  The candidate needs to be resourceful and be work both quickly and accurately to meet deadlines.

The candidate must be a natural communicator who can work with people at all levels of the agency and must be comfortable communicating with senior level staff. The candidate will be able to motivate others to produce work quickly, liaising with all departments - from production, client services and creative - to turn around work quickly accurately and to budget. You should be curious and sociable and most importantly, excited by creativity.

The ideal candidate needs to be organised, flexible and motivated and must have the ability to self-start and be pro-active.  Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as credentials and communications are tailored to meet the individual opportunity.

The candidate must be able to deal with the stress of working to conflicting deadlines and must be able to juggle several projects. The New Business Manager needs to have lots of energy, a great sense of humour and remain calm under pressure.
