Job purpose:

The Head of Research and Measurement is responsible for leading the Research and Measurement team and overseeing all the work that the IAB produces in this area. This includes both proprietary research projects that meet the needs of members and key measurement activities such as the IAB / PwC Adspend Study and audience measurement activities through the IAB’s contributions to UKOM (UK Online Measurement that quantifies audiences in terms of people).

The Head of Research and Measurement will work closely with the Chief Digital Officer on the IAB’s overall Research and Measurement strategy to ensure that the IAB delivers maximum value for members in this key area. 

Key responsibilities:

  • You will formulate IAB UK’s Research and Measurement strategy and ensure the projects deliver against the IAB’s vision of Building a Sustainable Future for Digital Advertising

  • You will have the vision to build a programme of best in class Research and Measurement activity for the IAB and raise the IAB’s profile as a trade body that delivers the very best media research 

  • Be an inspiring leader for the IAB’s Research and Measurement team and continue to develop them as media research professionals

  • You will oversee the delivery of individual research projects to make sure that they deliver against objectives and meet pre-agreed schedules

  • You will be working with your team to ensure roles and responsibilities for each project are clear

  • Working with the wider team at the IAB, you will understand their research needs and, where appropriate, deliver solutions that meet these needs

  • You will work with your team to ensure that the Research Advisory Group adds value to members that attend 

  • You must be an articulate and effective presenter and spokesperson for the IAB, happy to present at industry events, author pieces in the trade press and represent the IAB’s Research and Measurement activities through the IAB’s website and social media channels 

  • You will be responsible for the IAB’s Research and Measurement budget and maximise the impact of that budget

  • By working with the Marketing and PR & Communications team you will amplify the IAB’s Research and Measurement activities and ensure that the projects achieve maximum levels of coverage

  • You should have a broad understanding of the commercial context that the IAB’s research and measurement programme operates within and ensure this is taken into account when devising projects

  • As a key member of the team of department heads, you will help manage and shape the day to day running of IAB UK.

Skills, knowledge and characteristics:

  • Experience of and passionate about managing a research programme from commissioning projects to delivering results; either at media owner or media agency

  • Experience of managing a small team of research and measurement experts

  • Track record of delivering highly respected research projects

  • Good understanding of digital advertising measurement landscape and challenges

  • Ability to look differently at research questions and deliver innovative and actionable insights

  • Ruthlessly efficient in terms of delivering against agreed timetables and roadmaps

  • Skilled communicator and presenter, able to easily summarise complex issues in an engaging way

  • Desire to be part of growing team of department heads and to take on more responsibility for helping to run a business

Line Manager: Chief Digital Officer.

Line Manage: Senior Industry Measurement Manager & Research Manager.
