Can you help us win clients like Co-op, Channel 4, Royal Mail and AstraZeneca?

Acteon is an agency that creates communication and learning to help people flourish.

That means helping people to make better choices, work more efficiently, be safer, embrace diversity, develop their skills – whatever it is that makes them, and their organisations, more successful. Our projects often address complex issues where an organisation needs external help to find its voice and engage its people.

We work with clients to understand the specific objectives that underpin success, and then we design communication and learning campaigns that drive positive behaviour change. We have a national reputation for the quality of what we do, and how we do it, reflected in the many industry awards that our work has won – both for us and our clients.

The role
We need to maintain our strong position and reputation, and win new clients with who we’ll build successful relationships. We’re looking for a marketeer who can bring the right mix of skill, experience and insight to help us do it.

We need someone who can shape a campaign and then execute it, using all the channels you’d expect – social media, web site, trade shows, email, etc. Someone experienced in using PR to maintain position and reputation. A people-person who can be a face of Acteon for potential customers, existing clients and our contacts within the industry. And of course, we need someone who is confident and experienced in essential skills like managing leads, handling the CRM system, reporting, and so on.

Where do you fit in?
Acteon works with insight and agility, and we need our Marketing Manager to do that too.
We’re a busy agency, so marketing efforts need to be carefully aligned to our available capacity. Most of our work comes through repeat and referral, so maintaining existing relationships is just as important as building new ones. That means we need a marketeer with the flexibility to adjust their approach as needed.

It’s a challenge, but one that’s exciting and stimulating. We’re a dynamic business, and we’re interested in new ideas for presenting our services to prospective and existing clients, so there’s plenty of opportunity to bring new things to the role.

You’ll be supported by, and responsible for, our Marketing Executive.

Core skills you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Confidently promote Acteon to potential clients in a range of industry sectors
  • Create and use an effective range of PR contacts
  • Develop and deliver impactful campaigns, using a variety of channels
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with prospective clients
  • Manage an effective social media presence
  • Oversee our presence at conferences and exhibitions
  • Co-ordinate our involvement with industry networking groups
  • Lead accurate and effective use of our CRM system
  • Provide the business with the marketing data it needs
  • Take a pro-active role in post-project customer feedback and follow-up
  • Be a supportive and inspirational line manager for our Marketing Executive

You’ll have demonstrated all of this through at least five years of relevant professional experience.

Who we are and how we work
The company includes 16 consultants, 10 studio colleagues, a digital team of 15, two marketing staff and five administrators. We also work with a network of trusted freelance writers and designers. Our base is a converted Victorian brewery in central Cambridge. Beer-making stopped in 1972, but there’s still a pub next door.

We work in an informal structure and keep hierarchy and management to a minimum. It’s a working style that we value, but it requires colleagues to be mature, cooperative and self-directed.

We pride ourselves on the great relationships we build with clients and on our ability to exceed their expectations. That strength is rooted in quality – the quality of our work, and the quality of the working experience. We have a very strong reputation and have won multiple national awards.

What we offer
We offer the satisfaction of doing stimulating and varied work in a friendly and supportive environment. As a member of a small company you’ll have a chance to influence the development of Acteon and to contribute to and share in our success.

The role will give you the chance to work independently, whilst still having the guidance and support of an experienced and dynamic team. We offer a salary related to capability and experience, a contributory pension scheme, life assurance, gym membership and 25 days of annual holiday in addition to statutory holidays. In successful years we make bonus payments.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you. Send us your CV and tell us what you’ll bring to our team. Thank you.
