Interim Commercial Marketing Manager - FMCG Food Brands
Our client is an international food group and a division of one of the biggest consumer goods companies in the world. The UK business has a range of well-established brands and is a leading player in many fast growing categories. Their brands operate across all key food sectors of ambient, chilled and frozen with established distribution across Grocery Multiples, Convenience, Wholesale/Cash & Carry as well as the independent trade. The company has grown successfully over recent years both organically and through acquisition, with an ambition and vision to accelerate this growth path.
The business is fast-paced and continues to invest in people, systems and processes to ensure competitive advantage is developed and retained. This ambition requires exceptional people to join the team and contribute to writing the next chapter of success. This includes the new appointment of an interim Commercial Marketing Manager for a 6-month contract, which may be extended, if the candidate proves successful.
The interim Commercial Marketing Manager will take full responsibility for a portfolio of specific brands and categories. The primary objective is to identify attractive market sectors in which the business can play and win, write the strategy, source and develop brands from the parent company and other manufacturers around the world and ensure market execution. Key deliverables include the development of strategic plans, creating the consumer offer (sourcing and compliance), working with sales colleagues to create the compelling commercial proposition, writing the marketing and commercial plan and ensuring its delivery. The role requires full accountability for delivery of the P&L and budget.
Of graduate calibre, the successful candidate will have previous FMCG blue-chip brand experience with a background and track record of success in Brand Marketing, Category / Trade Marketing or Account Management (min. 2 of the 3). The role requires regular contact, communication and close collaboration with international colleagues in overseas markets. This will require the candidate to possess strong leadership, influencing and communication skills and therefore previous exposure to working internationally or within matrix structures would be an advantage.

The role is based at the company’s South East Head Office (Essex) with some occasional overseas travel if/when required. The company are also willing to consider suitable candidates who are only initially able to do 3-4 days per week.
