Are you a brilliant designer who wants to help save nature? This organisation is looking for someone to join their small, but prolific, in-house creative team. Working on products that both inspire and inform, you'll have the chance to generate unique designs and become involved in the creative process from concept meetings through to the last proof.

This is a key role that involves working closely with other teams to exceed the expectations of internal customers and improve the effectiveness of their communications for the whole organisation and beyond.


  • You need to have two or more years' experience working as a designer within a creative team or agency.
  • You also need to be ready to react, as things can happen fast in conservation, and be willing to invest in the collective responsibility of the team to produce a high standard of work.
  • You need to be a responsive, talented and technically sound designer who knows how to adapt your designs to suit the needs of different audiences.
  • You have a strong and organised way of working and workflow approach.
  • You understand brand and campaign frameworks and how to work within them.
  • You need to have experience and work confidently with a broad variety of platforms and channels.
  • You know your way around a Mac and Adobe Creative Suite and can work with speed and efficiency.
  • You understand and champion the use of things like design templates and have a methodical approach to design layout in order to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • You actively enjoy professional self-improvement, especially with manager-led objectives.
  • You enjoy keeping up with design trends, both on and offline, and have a working interest in technology innovation.
  • A strong passion for conservation is, of course, a bonus.

The following have been identified as the key duties of the role. As such, they highlight the core key skills/expertise and experience required.

Working within the wider Creative Team, you'll support the Senior Designer and Lead Creative on a variety of exciting, innovative and eye-catching communications to underpin the charity’s aims.

You will support the Senior Designer translating approved concepts and developing audience-focussed content to produce printed communications, presentations, exhibitions and digital assets for them and partner communications.

You will work confidently cross-platform (print/digital), factoring in environmental and other considerations, such as accessibility. You will apply this understanding to ensure your design is as impactful as possible for the channel it is delivered through, and the audience it is delivered for.

Alongside the Senior Designer you will actively champion brand tone of voice and style guidelines. In addition, you will support and advise colleagues on the brand guidelines including how they adhere to guidance whilst still achieving objectives.

You will walk in the shoes of your target audience, harnessing audience insights, to target your designs in order to achieve maximum engagement and impact.

You will ensure art-work and collection of artwork and assets for print or digital publishing are done to a high, professional level. You will also be responsible for checking proofs to ensure work meets approved charity standards. Furthermore, you will observe Mac Server and Information Systems housekeeping standards.

You will assist any partners, freelance designers or agencies and work collaboratively within a wider team with editors (both video and copy), artworkers and camera operators.

You will be accountable for planning, recording and executing your own work effectively to agreed timescales, and responsible for working with colleagues to agree realistic timescales for communications.
