We are looking for a digital marketing expert with proven experience in subscriptions, to maintain and run the HarperCollins online subscription marketing business, reporting to the Head of Marketing. They will be responsible for a ground breaking new digital product for a well-known brand, appealing to a predominantly female audience with the primary goal to recruit new subscribers.

This is a new role, and so we are looking for an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to work in an agile way in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment. This role will be part of a wider dynamic team and will be responsible for reporting performance against deliverables to internal stake holders.

The purpose of this role is to drive subscription growth via digital channels, driving acquisition and retention and reducing churn, and managing the relationship with the performance marketing media agency. You will plan and execute a wide variety of marketing campaigns and ensure the implementation and fulfilment of each campaign is within budget and on schedule. You must be results driven and highly analytical with a focus on delivering KPI's.

Responsibilities

  • Run, maintain and optimise the subscription business

  • Manage the day-to-day marketing responsibilities to recruit new subscribers and build a profitable subscriber base

  • Work with our media agency and internal marketing team to plan, design and implement paid media subscriber acquisition campaigns

  • Manage media budgets to deliver campaigns in budget and on time

  • Manage execution of the CRM strategy including email and push notifications to create successful welcome, engagement, retention and reengagement journeys

  • Report on campaign results, subscription engagement, revenue generation and ROI

  • Develop a deep understanding of the audiences and markets, identifying key competitors and monitoring audience and marketing activity

  • Assess, monitor and improve marketing efficiency by conducting regular analysis of KPI’s: new subscribers, churn, customer acquisition cost, monthly recurring revenue, margin, customer lifetime value

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience (ideally 3 years +) of digital marketing within D2C subscription, particularly in the content and entertainment space.

  • Experience working with large media budgets and having senior level exposure.

  • Substantial experience of acquisition marketing and renewal campaigns.

  • Solid understanding of Customer Relationship Management and CRM systems.

  • Experience of using data and applying to strategies.

  • Sound knowledge of SEO, PPC and ASO.

  • Commercially minded, a problem solver and entrepreneurial.

  • Collaborative approach and ability to work well within a team.

  • Experience of using digital marketing platforms.

  • Ideally, IDM or CIM certified.

  • A keen interest in culture, books, music, arts or media and entertainment.

  • Experience managing agencies, particularly media agencies.

  • Ability to synthesise multiple inputs from multiple sources to drive and create a strategy

  • Start-up experience would be beneficial.
