As responsible for Public Affairs in the UK, you will be in charge of monitoring and analysing key regulatory and legislative projects that could present opportunities or risks for the Group. Based on the Group's priorities, you will analyse the regulatory agenda, and contribute to the quality of the debate and the elaboration of public decision-making likely to have both positive and negative impacts to the Group. Based on the group's position and the local environment specificity, you will prepare Michelin's UK position and deploy advocacy plans, while anticipating and help resolve crisis.

To do so, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining trustful and constructive relations with the both national and local political actors, administrations and professional organisations, particularly those to which Michelin belongs as well as opinion leaders defending the interests of society, as well as with the world of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

  • Help to define and promote the Group's positions towards the targets that have been defined (public authorities, professional associations, NGOs, etc.). Contribute to a positive perception of the Group's image by these stakeholders.
  • Enrich and engage a UK-wide network of influential stakeholders outside of Michelin in order to help turn governmental decisions (especially of EU law adaptions) favourable for Michelin. This includes obtaining public grants and subsidies for investments and RDI
  • Build a clear vision of UK Government direction in a post Brexit world and assess risks / opportunities for group.
  • Monitor and provide analysis of key pieces of legislative projects that could affect the company, with an emphasise on divergence from EU policy in key areas.
  • Based on the Group's position, draft position papers and notes adapted to the UK.
  • Map relevant stakeholders for the Group, including trade associations and deploy contact plans.
  • Leading lobbying actions in the Group's interest on issues defined by operational managers and experts, to include key European public affair messaging and UK specific issues.
  • Grow knowledge of group companies in the UK, their priorities and support key messages from these new perspectives.
  • Ensure representation of the company in the relevant trade associations. Identify non-competitive actions on which a collaboration within the framework of a professional association could be fruitful and those on which it should be avoided
  • Represent the UK within group on the topic of sustainability
  • Ensure the alignment between community involvement and group direction to build on stakeholder support
  • Work closely with technical teams in Europe North (EUN) and Europe to ensure any norms and regulation issues are identified and treated (with special focus on any Department of Transport deviation from EU)
