Account Director - the role 

As Account Director, you’ll form beneficial long-term relationships with key clients whilst ensuring all the work the team create is of the highest possible standard. You will have an in-depth knowledge of client’s business, all agency services and act as the senior point of contact on a day-to-day basis. Account Directors play a key part in the new business strategy for the agency working on pitches and developing strategic relationships from winning new clients.

Account Director – client responsibilities

  • Create and maintain strong relationships with clients, continuously delivering excellent service
  • Demonstrate a strategic understanding of each client’s business / brand / product / service as well as its marketplace, contributing to the development of your clients' marketing ambitions
  • Look at accounts with a long term / wider perspective beyond individual campaigns or projects
  • Contribute to strategic presentations and proposals
  • Broad business skills
  • Creative judgement
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the creative process and the significance of the brief 
  • Able to evaluate creative in context of the brief and in principle

Account Director – account management skills

  • Timely and effective administration and financial management
  • Ensure systems are kept up-to-date, working to and monitoring budgets, managing purchase orders / expected costs
  • Ensure timing schedules kept up-to-date and circulated to relevant people and managed with the client
  • Ensure jobs are progressed through the agency smoothly, liaising with Studio Manager and other colleagues as required
  • Ability to foresee and forestall potential problems
  • Communications are clear and persuasive, seeking to gain consensus from others
  • Confident and articulate in meetings and presentations
  • Clear attention to detail

  • 6-7+ years’ creative agency experience
  • Knowledge of brand and brand communications, from an integrated or a brand comms agency
  • Experience of working with B2B clients
  • Experience of working across a broad client base in terms of sectors
  • Experience of working with an integrated team – strategy, creative, production, copywriting, motion, developers
  • Looking for someone with energy and personality and who doesn’t take themselves too seriously
