Job Description

The successful PR and Marketing Manager will have the following responsibilities;

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and deliver a structured and effective stakeholder plan, in order to build and sustain collaborative relationships with harbour users, external partners and stakeholders, local and regional businesses, community groups and related organisations
  • Ensure engagement with all identified stakeholders, that have an interest in the harbour, is appropriate, open and effective and that stakeholders have the opportunity to have a voice and that their views are taken into account
  • Identify and develop new, value-adding relationships at a local and regional level

Public Relations

  • Actively promote CHC as a safe, effective and environmentally conscious commercial and leisure harbour and a significant contributor and partner to the local and regional economy
  • Develop, influence and implement the PR and communications strategy for CHC to deliver on its ambitions, maximise public relations impact, attract interest and promote engagement in all of the organisation's activities
  • Develop, drive and implement a PR and communications annual plan, including key messages to be used across all delivery channels and media
  • Develop strong relationships with key journalists/social media sites and leverage external communication channels and opportunities to ensure CHC receives recognition for its work and activities
  • Manage the media in crisis situations providing appropriate communication solutions and responses to enquiries

Customer Proposition and Marketing

  • Develop a strategic, research-led approach to identify target audiences and develop engaging, customer focussed propositions to promote CHC as a safe, effective and environmentally conscious leisure and commercial harbour and a significant contributor to the local and regional economy
  • Develop and deliver a multi-media marketing plan in support of the strategic objectives and ambitions of CHC
  • Produce, implement and evaluate creative, multi-media campaigns and marketing plans to attract, engage and retain customers against agreed objectives/ROI
  • Identify, engage and manage agencies as required in support of the delivery of marketing plans and campaigns
  • Manage all data and ensure compliance with current relevant legislation
  • Utilise analytics to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points

Digital Strategy

  • Develop a strategic digital plan in support of the wider multi-media customer proposition and marketing strategy
  • Develop and deliver all digital marketing, including website content, SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and advertising campaigns
  • Design, build and maintain CHC social media presence across a range of channels
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)


  • Develop and lead a structured and engaging communications plan for the delivery of regular update and statutory communications to harbour users and stakeholders, sourcing content from internal and external subject matter experts as required
  • Develop and lead a structured community engagement programme
  • Lead, develop and manage employee communications and engagement through employee briefings, newsletters, focus groups and surveys

The Successful Applicant

The successful PR and Marketing Manager should have the following skillset;

  • Proven PR experience, able to identify trends and insights to support PR opportunities and develop publicity in support of organisational ambitions
  • Proven marketing experience, able to develop, deliver and evaluate marketing strategies and multi-media campaigns
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, able to adapt style and content to meet needs of different internal and external stakeholders and customers
  • Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships and manage key internal and external stakeholders at local, regional and national levels
  • Confident and experienced to deal with media directly and act as a spokesperson for the CHC
  • Proven working experience in digital marketing, able to lead SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate and in optimising landing pages and user funnels
  • Demonstrable experience of budget and financial target delivery
  • Proven experience of crisis management planning and response

What's on Offer

The successful candidate will be offered a salary of circa £40,000 plus company benefits.

Please note, although the organisation holds a flexible working policy, regular travel to their office in Cowes will be required.
