Location: London, with remote working at present
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) works to support the Palestinian people in their struggle forFreedom, Justice and Equality and against apartheid, military occupation, and colonisation. We are the biggest organisation in the UK dedicated to securing Palestinian rights and bring together people from all walks of life to work towards our goals. We aim to create mainstream pressure to change the policies of the UK government and to indirectly place pressure on the Israeli government to end its oppression of the Palestinian people. We support the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) until Israel complies with international law, and ceases its violations of the rights of the Palestinian people.
We are now looking for a talented Campaigns Officer to join our dedicated team. You will hold specific responsibility for spearheading PSC’s work in protecting our right to campaign, working to counter several measures designed to curtail or delegitimise activism in support of the rights of the
Palestinian people, and in particular to diminish people’s right to support BDS campaigns. This will include working to build a coalition to campaign against proposed legislation to curtail the right of public bodies not to invest in or procure from companies complicit in Israel’s violations of international law.
With the ability to think creatively and come up with new solutions easily, you will forge relationships to enable the design and delivery of campaigns, working closely with PSC supporters including: members, branches, partners, and affiliates. You will work with the media communications team to generate media attention for our campaigns and promote PSC at public events and meetings. In addition, you will contribute to the wider work of PSC’s campaigns team, as required.
With experience of building broad political alliances to support campaign objectives and using social media in a campaigning context, you will work well in collaboration with a small team and have knowledge of the key issues regarding the situation in Palestine and an understanding of the appropriate framings to explain its situation. You will have detailed knowledge of the strategies being employed by Israel and its allies globally to try to delegitimise activism in support of Palestinian rights.
Please note, the successful candidate must be prepared to support events taking place around London and on occasion work varying hours including weekends and evenings.
