Strategy & Development Director - The role

This agency has a great reputation for outstanding strategic work. This is a great opportunity for a confident, experienced strategy professional to drive the growth and direction of this strong boutique agency to help shape its continued future success.

This person will work very closely with the partners. There are two main areas:

1 - building and growing the agency pipeline and profile

2 - delivering key projects end-to-end, alongside the Partners and the team.

Strategy & Development Director - Responsibilities

Marketing and Business Development

  • Build awareness of the agency beyond clients and collaborators
  • Create content, and direct others to generate content, across media/channels
  • Identify and secure opportunities for thought leadership – speaking, writing, judging
  • Build, develop and nurture connections with clients, collaborators and intermediaries and build new connections and convert new clients/ projects
  • Lead pitches, write and direct proposal creation and fee negotiation and influence and assist of conversion of new projects from existing clients

Strategy leadership

  • Deliver projects end to end – define scope, deliverables and responsibilities, prioritise work streams and manage to ensure consistent delivery, on time, on budget and on brief
  • Work with the senior team to set the strategic direction, and support the rest of the team in writing the strategy
  • Ensure best practice
  • Demonstrate strong commercial management 
  • Build, develop and nurture senior client relationships

Strategy & Development Director - Skills

  • Around 10 years’ experience in strategy and/or the marketing on the agency or client side
  • Able to demonstrate commercial success with strong business development experience
  • Experience of working in and/or with large, complex organisations, of delivering projects and managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level
  • Demonstrable understanding of the value and role of purpose and brand
  • Experience in ongoing facilitation of team co-working and spirit
