We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Strategy & Copy to join a leading brand communications agency. They are a global agency who work with some of the world's biggest companies driving new strategic thinking, new visual approaches and new ways of communicating. Their UK office is based in London.

The Role
The Head of Strategy and Copy is the writings teams lead and inspiration and the tone and voice behind every project.

The Primary Purpose of this role is to inspire, mentor the team and oversee and uphold. the copy and strategy excellence of content behind every project created by the agency.

As part of the creative leadership team the Head of Strategy and Copy will work closely with the lead design creatives and Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works closely with design and writing teams to develop creative strategy for brand projects
  • Leads team in creative campaigns, encouraging collaboration, leading brainstorms, providing creative strategy to help with execution
  • Oversee and work across multiple projects ranging from emails, landing pages, blog content, creative campaigns, video, websites, apps, customer letters, forms and campaigns to brand identities, tone of voice guidelines, and naming.
  • Generate and share original ideas that result in effective and compelling communications, improving our clients' customer experience, and getting them real business results.
  • Promotes proofing best practice, oversee proofing deliverables for accuracy against the brief, as well as for any errors, before they're sent to the client.
  • Ensures writing team maintains brand standards, voice & tone when writing copy
  • Thinks critically about projects and knows when to push back or evolve strategy to best meet goals
  • Run and facilitate great workshops - internally and with clients.
  • Share supervisory roles with the Global Creative Director, such as mentoring of team members, inspiring, and encouraging the other writers.
  • Confidently direct the writing team and sign off creative work.

Strategy and Creativity

  • Ensure all major projects have a documented strategy that ties together everything - from initial brief to final creative.
  • Capture and articulate client briefs, challenges and opportunities - with a strong ability to join the dots and articulate the challenges in a broader context.
  • Work with Managing Director and Account Manager to lead projects across content strategy, digital branding, content creation and customer engagement projects - helping clients bring their message and story to life across digital channels and offline.
  • Develop all strategic pitch presentations.
  • Thinks strategically about how to engage with customers
  • Looks for opportunities to push creative boundaries and do something different and unexpected for the brand

Leadership

  • Manage and oversee writing team, mentor junior members of the team
  • Contributes to internal training sessions and onboarding session for new team members
  • Inspires and pushes the team to think beyond the every day
  • Encourage a fun and sociable studio atmosphere with a proactive and creative studio culture.
  • Cultivate staff engagement by using the company values in your communication and everyday work.

The Business side...

  • Available to step into client/new business meetings at any time, ready to 'sell the dream'.
  • Get close to the client's business, their challenges and their goals, and fully understand how we can support their ambitions.
  • Work with Account Manager to identify and action opportunities to extend client relationships.
  • Support the teams to help prepare presentations and pitches for new business and support outbound marketing initiatives for the agency

Communication

  • Clearly communicate and celebrate our great creative work across the team and wider business.
  • Effectively communicate a client's creative vision to writing team and stakeholders.
  • Success in this role is defined and measured by strategic projects being delivered on time, on budget, within agreed scope and exceeding client expectations. Success in this role is also defined by knowledge sharing and upskilling the wider team.

Additional Skills

  • You should have at least 5+ yrs' experience writing complex copy and management.
  • You'll have provable experience writing clear, concise and grammatically correct copy.
  • You'll have strong research skills to make sure all content you write is factually accurate.
  • A passion for writing and the willingness to learn from other creative professionals.
  • An excellent eye for detail to proof your own work and the work produced by the design team to make sure everything is absolutely error-free.
  • Brilliant time management skills and thrive working to tight deadlines in a fast- paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Conduct research around client brands to help refine the brief and final deliverables.
