Here at Barker Graves we work with a broad range of communications agencies in digital, integrated communications, activation, consultancies and broadcast including WPP, Omnicom, Havas, Publicis and IPG to mid-sized groups and smaller independents.

The Roles

We have a number of roles for shopper/commerce professionals who are adept at identifying opportunities for commercial growth be that through brand, customer or shopper:

  • Strategic continuity: maintain focus on the brand purpose and how this translates into creative commerce opportunities
  • Consumer focus: leverage the big human truths of the brand to drive conversion
  • Shopper focus: understand the modern path to purchase and how to best activate across the journey
  • Commercial strategy: how to leverage the power or retail and retailers to drive mutual growth opportunities
  • Digital strategy: how to engage shoppers on the ever-changing digital path to purchase
  • Channel strategy: how to win across multitude of retail channels, managed markets places, aggregators and owned retail channels
  • Retail trend’s interpretation: identify growth opportunities in an ever-changing world
  • Results interpretation: find strategic meaning in activation data

The Strategy Director

  • Extensive experience in account planning for FMCG, ideally with (alcoholic) beverages
  • Strong experience in a similar role within an industry recognized agency.
  • Demonstratable experience across all forms of retail and channels including digital commerce.
  • Ability to operate and succeed in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Be able to speak the client’s language
  • Used to working on shopper only briefs and within IAT models
  • Strong commercial understanding and awareness.
  • Strong formal communications skills for presentations to decision making clients.
  • Ability to understand and reduce data / information into actionable insights.
  • Ability to work alongside creative director to write inspiring and thought provoking creative conceptual briefs as well as ability to identify specific creative commerce opportunities that might arise along the shopper journey.
  • Previous experience with clients that require global / regional toolkits and Customer sell in stories
  • Good persuasive selling and negotiation skills, whilst ensuring best result for both agency and client.
  • Presence – leadership, authority, energy, influence – internally and externally.
  • Previous experience in managing a small team is desirable.
  • Proactive – self-motivated with patience and able to exercise intuition.
